Michael Jordan is without a doubt the most iconic basketball player of all time. As his cards and other memorabilia continue to increase in value, it is evident that his legacy will live on forever.
Here is a list of the most valuable Michael Jordan cards, including base cards, inserts, die cuts, autos, patches and refractors. It will give you a good idea of just how valuable Michael Jordan cards can be, under the right circumstances.
Most Valuable Michael Jordan Cards from the Early Years
1986 Fleer Michael Jordan #57
On average a PSA 10 of this Michael Jordan rookie cards sells for around $300,000, though it has sold for as much as $700,000+. Although his rookie season was in 1984, this was his first widely produced card from a staple basketball card brand. While the PSA population count is quite high, it is difficult to come by this card in mint condition. Combine that with the hobby’s affinity for rookie cards and you have a recipe for a 6-figure evaluation of Michael Jordan’s 1986 Fleer rookie in Gem Mint condition.
Other notable rookies from this set include Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, and Hakeem Olajuwon.
Grading Breakdown
This card has been graded by PSA 20,895 times with 319 being graded Gem Mint 10 and 2,847 receiving a PSA 9 Mint.
1986 Fleer Michael Jordan Sticker #8
On 10/27/2021 a PSA 10 sold for $75,000.
Grading Breakdown
This rare and often off-center Michael Jordan rookie card has been graded by PSA 11,099 times with 121 being graded Gem Mint 10 and 1,970 receiving a PSA 9 Mint.
1987 Michael Jordan Fleer #59
On 1/27/2022 a PSA 10 sold for $23,400. This Michael Jordan “second year” card has to be the most plain, basic design of this entire list. This also happens to be the rookie year of Scottie Pippen.
Grading Breakdown
This card has been graded by PSA 12,976 times with 208 being graded Gem Mint 10.
1987 Fleer Michael Jordan Sticker #2
On 4/30/2021 a PSA 10 sold for $47,000. These stickers are notorious for having centering issues, which can easily be distinguished between the striping and star pattern along the left side. The incredibly scarce number of PSA 10s is further indication of sports card printing issues back in the 1980s.
Grading Breakdown
This card has been graded by PSA 7,200 times with 24 being graded Gem Mint 10.
1988 Fleer Michael Jordan #17
On 1/17/2022 a PSA 10 sold for $4,550. The distinct gradient border of these basketball cards from 1988 makes their centering immediately apparent. For some basketball card collectors, this type of eye appeal is important, and they’d rather have a centered PSA 6 than an off-centered PSA 8, for example.
Grading Breakdown
This card has been graded by PSA 16,113 times with 565 being graded Gem Mint 10.
1988 Fleer All Star Michael Jordan #120
On 1/18/2022 a PSA 10 sold for $5,800. This may be the most iconic pose for Michael Jordan in all of his cards. It came during the 1988 Slam Dunk contest when he went toe-to-toe with Dominique Wilkins from the Atlanta Hawks. Jordan would go on to be the winner and this dunk came when Jordan took off from the free throw line.
Grading Breakdown
This card has been graded by PSA 10,138 times with 362 being graded Gem Mint 10.
Most Valuable Michael Jordan Cards from 90s and 2000s – Refractors, Die-Cuts, Auto, Patches
1997 Upper Deck Game Jerseys Michael Jordan #GJ13S
On 2/4/2021 a PSA 7 sold for $1,440,000.
Michael Jordan autographed 23 of these cards and they were serial numbered by hand. This sale was near the peak of the early 2021 price boom, so its hard to say if that price would be lower today or not.
Despite the peak market sale, this will likely continue to be one of the most valuable Michael Jordan cards out there, along with his rookie card and Precious Metal Gems.
Game Jersey cards were inserted into 1 out of 2500 1997 Upper Deck Series One packs.
Grading Breakdown
This card has been graded by PSA 1 time as a Gem Mint 10.
1997 Skybox Precious Metal Gems Michael Jordan #23
On 12/11/2020 a PSA 6 of the red PMG parallel sold for $228,000. The more rare 1996 Metal Universe Michael Jordan PMG Green sold on 12/09/2020 for $915,000. It wasn’t graded, simply labeled authentic by PSA.
Some collectors might argue that this card, and not his 1986 Fleer rookie card, is in fact the holy grail of Michael Jordan basketball cards.
Precious Metal Gems are rare and susceptible to chipping, thus grades are not as big of a factor as they are in other basketball card values.
This card continues to be one of the most valuable Michael Jordan cards.
Grading Breakdown
This card has been graded by PSA 28 times with being graded Gem Mint 10 and 5 receiving a PSA 9 Mint.
2008 Skybox Precious Metal Gems Michael Jordan #23
On 1/30/2022 a PSA 10 sold for $259,316. A little more than a decade later, Skybox brought back the Precious Metal Gems, this time in a strikingly different design. Still, the rarity of the green PMG being serial numbered to just 50 vaults it up the value ladder quite high.
Grading Breakdown
This card has been graded by PSA 1 time as a Gem Mint 10.
1998 Fleer Tradition Playmakers Theatre Michael Jordan #9PT
On 1/30/2021 a PSA 10 sold for $186,960.

1997 Skybox E-X2001 Essential Credentials Future Michael Jordan #9
On 2/11/2020 a PSA 6 sold for $83,558. It is Serial Numbered to 72.
In addition, there is a Essential Credential Now parallel version with a lime green coloring serial numbered to only 9. Neither PSA nor Beckett have graded this card. Where are they? What would they be worth? If one did come up for sale, how high would it move up in the list of most valuable Michael Jordan cards?
Grading Breakdown
This card has been graded by PSA 11 times with 1 being graded Gem Mint 10 and 5 receiving a PSA 9 Mint.
2006 Upper Deck (UD) Chronology MVP Winners Autographs Michael Jordan #MVPMJ
On 11/24/2020 a BGS 9 sold for $80,990.
Interestingly, PSA has no pop report showing they graded this card, but they do have a sale of a PSA 6 listed for $8,300. This is probably just a database error, but in reality this card has only ever been graded by any grading company a handful of times.
It is Serial Numbered to 50.
1996 Flair Showcase Legacy Collection Michael Jordan #Row0
On 5/21/21 a PSA 10 sold for $68,000.
The PSA populationfor the Flair Showcase Legacy Collection is divided up into Row 0, Row 1 and Row 2 cards, but I combined them all in this case.
Grading Breakdown
This card has been graded by PSA 71 times with 8 being graded Gem Mint 10 and 29 receiving a PSA 9 Mint.
1997 Skybox E-X2001 Jambalaya Michael Jordan #6
On 8/28/2020 a PSA 10 sold for $58,600. Although it would make sense that this design and card name originated in basketball given the “jam” reference, this unique oval die-cut design and Jambalaya name carried over into other sports cards, as well as Marvel Comic cards.
Given how much the market has grown since the last 10 sold, I think if one went to market today, it could fetch $100,000 or more.
Grading Breakdown
This card has been graded by PSA 46 times with 14 being graded Gem Mint 10 and 17 receiving a PSA 9 Mint.
1997 Fleer Ultra Ultra Stars Gold Michael Jordan #1US

Grading Breakdown
This card has been graded by PSA 83 times with 23 being graded Gem Mint 10 and 46 receiving a PSA 9 Mint.
1997 NBA Hoops High Voltage 500 Volts Michael Jordan #14HV
On 5/24/2021 a PSA 8 sold for $23,300.
The last time a 10 sold was for $8,200 on 3/20/2019 – considering a PSA 8 has roughly 10x value during that same period of time, I don’t think $85,000 is too high an estimate.
Grading Breakdown
This card has been graded by PSA 30 times with 4 being graded Gem Mint 10 and 6 receiving a PSA 9 Mint.
1997 Flair Showcase Legacy Collection Michael Jordan – Row 0
On 1/15/2021 a PSA 10 sold for $22,750.
Rows 1, 2, and 3 have even lower pop counts and next to no sales data. So its difficult to estimate their value. However, I think these cards could easily fetch between $20,000 – $50,000 if they hit the market today.
Grading Breakdown
This card has been graded by PSA 33 times with 16 being graded Gem Mint 10 and 13 receiving a PSA 9 Mint.
1996 Skybox E-X2000 Credentials Michael Jordan #9
On 9/7/2020 a PSA 9 sold for $21,500. Because only 2 PSA 10s exist, I think it’s not unreasonable to think one could sell in excess of $100,000.
On 10/27/2021, a PSA 10 of Kobe Bryant’s Credentials rookie sold for $617,460 at a Goldin Elite Auction.
Grading Breakdown

1999 Upper Deck MJ Master Collection Signature Performances MJ1-MJ10
On 8/11/2021 a PSA 10 sold for $18,450.
The pop is from all cards in the set, so if each card has a SN to 50, there should be 500 in existence. Yet only 34 have ever been graded by PSA.
Grading Breakdown
This card has been graded by PSA 34 times with 18 being graded Gem Mint 10 and 13 receiving a PSA 9 Mint.
1997 Fleer Ultra Star Power Supreme Michael Jordan #1SPS

1998 NBA Hoops Slam Bams Michael Jordan #1SB
On 1/22/2019 a PSA 9 sold for $9,000.
Since there are no 10s and the pop is so low, based on how the market has increased since the last sale I would think this card fetches around $40,000.
Grading Breakdown
This card has been graded by PSA 9 times with being graded Gem Mint 10 and 4 receiving a PSA 9 Mint.

It’s hard to separate all the Michael Jordan basketball cards from Upper Deck’s Exquisite collection because they are rare, have very low pop counts, and very seldom come up for auction.
However, here is a list of highlight cards from the inaugural edition of the iconic set, which also included Lebron James as a rookie – whose RPA sold for $5.2 million.
